Props
A prop is an item used on screen or stage to help improve a performance. It can make a scene feel more real or help actors play their role sufficiently.
Props are important because they can help convey the time and place of where the scene is set. It can also help the actor get into their role as most films are filmed in front of a green screen so they find it hard to get into character.
Horror films use dangerous props as it helps to add value to the killer. If there were no props involved during the film, the audience wouldn't be scared. whereas, if someones holding a chainsaw or machete its instantly going to make the audience scared of what might happen next.
The first prop we used in our opening title sequence was white contact lenses to make the girl look possessed and arised from the dead. It works well with our OTS because its discoloured her eyes, making her look pale and have dark under eyes that are slightly red. If she didn't have the contact lenses in she would just look like an ordinary person who is alive, or the victim of the sequence.

The second prop we used was a rabbit mask which was hiding the identity of the killer. We chose to use it in our opening title sequence its an unpleasant mask which would look very intimidating and scary if it am running at you. It also makes the victim and audience feel like the man will do something bad as he is hiding his facial features so no no body knows who he is. The rabbit mask also allowed us to represent this killer as an animal which portrays his personality. Rabbits are usually considered as cute and harmless animals so we chose to use a mask that has blood around the mouth. This juxtaposition makes the viewer feel uneasy which is what we were looking for as our film is a supernatural horror.
The third prop we used was a sack to put over the Co killer to also hide its identity. revealing the identity of the killers would not make the audience feel on edge as they wouldn't look scary nor look like killers as they don't have any other props on them to suggest that they are bad people. We also used fake blood as a prop and covered the possessed girl, and the victim with it to create the idea that she's tried to kill and possess him. We bought pre made fake blood and didn't make it ourselves as we felt the pre made blood was more realistic and we couldn't find the right consistency and colour of fake blood that we tested out in our blood making video. We decided to cover him in blood to make it obvious that he is the victim, and if he's covered in blood the audience will automatically sympathise with him.
