Moving image inspiration
When planning the features of our up and coming opening title sequence, Post Mortem. We wanted to make sure that we were creating an opening title sequence which is not completely distinctive. We wanted to create an opening title sequence that doesn't only show self-reliance but pays credit to those opening title sequences that have given us a certain amount of inspiration.
This image is from Sinister which is the movie we took inspiration from because we wanted to make an opening title sequence that would cause the same amount of fear that Sinister had done and still does today. This character-The Boogieman could possibly represent one of our own members of the group in Hannah. They share the similarities in the role they play with the long black hair, pale and bloody skin and unnatural eyes. You could even argue that this character could be seen as Matt as the Boogieman is very tall and has a lot of power.
We also got inspiration from the movie 'Smiley' to help us create one of our own characters in Sackman. We saw that Sackman had the same sort of qualities as Smiley had, like the unrecognised face and the joy to cause pain by killing people. Also, when is not killing he is still sending fear to people's minds, with just his presence alone. You could say that the character 'Smiley' could look like either Matt or James with 'Bunny Man' and 'Sackman'.
This character is from 'The Purge: Election Year' and we thought that it looked a little bit like 'Bunny Man' as the law doesn't apply to him like it does to the killers in the purge. We also saw the resemblance in the characters with the blood of their victims over the dark mask protecting his unnatural skin. This character is so alike and has resemblance to Matt's character as he looks mysterious yet still very scary.
